Les spécialistes du Musée d’informatique Bolo, à Lausanne, l’affirment: la disparition de l’ordinateur est annoncée, programmée depuis ses origines. Devenu minuscule, immatériel, camouflé, hybridé, humanisé, l’ordinateur n’en finit pas de se faire oublier, de devenir invisible. Paradoxalement, il n’a jamais été aussi présent dans un monde où l’informatique est partout et nulle part, où l’homme est désormais connecté à toute la planète sans en avoir conscience. Le Musée Bolo a mené l’enquête, rassemblé des indices, interrogé les témoins principaux, montré du doigt les suspects, à l’aide d’un gigantesque mind map. L’exposition Disparition programmée, le Musée Bolo mène l’enquête décrit ce cheminement inéluctable, à l’aide de photos et de textes explicatifs et techniques, clairs et didactiques. Les collections du Musée Bolo sont riches de machines originales et rares dont les plus remarquables sont visibles au verso du mur où serpente le mind map. Des machines sans lesquelles les prouesses technologiques d’aujourd’hui n’auraient jamais vu le jour. Disparition programmée, un ouvrage de référence accessible à tous, qui raconte autrement l’histoire de l’informatique. - PROGRAMMED DISAPPEARANCE The Bolo Museum Investigates / The experts at the Bolo Museum in Lausanne are in agreement: the computer is disappearing, and this disappearance was programmed from the start. The computer has become minuscule, immaterial, camouflaged, hybridized, and humanized; it continues to become ever more forgettable and invisible. Paradoxically, it has never been so pervasive; today we live in a world in which the computer is everywhere and nowhere at the same time, and where people across the entire planet are connected to each other without even being aware of it. The Bolo Museum has conducted an investigation, gathering clues, questioning prime witnesses, and identifying suspects using a huge mind map. The Programmed Disappearance, the Bolo Museum Investigates exhibit describes this inexorable progression using photos and explanatory texts that are technical, yet educational and easy to understand. The Bolo Museum’s collection is blessed with many original and rare machines; photos of some of the most remarkable of these are displayed on the back of the mind map wall in the museum. These are machines without which the technological prowess we all take for granted today would never have occurred. Programmed Disappearance is an easy-to-read reference document that tells the story of the history of computers in a different way.
